The Holton softball team took both games in a CSAA Silver conference doubleheader against Morley Stanwood Wednesday night, winning 12-2 and 16-1.
Leading the Red Devils at the plate in Game 1 was Alanna Cregg and Kenzie Greene, who both went 3-for-3 with a double and four RBIs. Also contributing were Abbie Fowler and Gianna Reed, who posted two hits each.
Game 2 featured a bunch of Red Devils connecting on every at-bat, including Fowler (3-for-3) and Cregg, Greene, Reed and Aubrey Goyings (2-for-2). Reed knocked in three runs while Melissa Kersting had a triple and two RBIs.
Picking up the win on the mound in Game 1 was Ryann Robins, who struck out 11 and with no walks. In Game 2 Greene took the mound and struck out six.
Holton improved to 8-2 on their season.
[1]Mona Shores, Reeths-Puffer split a pair of conference games on Wednesday
Reeths-Puffer won the opener 8-6. The Rockets led 8-2 in the seventh inning before the Sailors rallied to make it close. Caitlynn Duffey had three hits, including two doubles and a home run, for the Rockets. Megan Barmes also had three hits.
Duffey got the win on the mound with 12 strikeouts. Mia Geoghan had three hits for Mona Shores.
Mona Shores won the second game 11-6. Leading the way for the Sailors were Geoghan, Amilia Pena, Abbie Critchett and Maggie McCarthy with three hits apiece. Kristen Hylland picked up the win in the circle.
Emme Buzzell had two hits for Reeths-Puffer.
Mona Shores gets two wins over Forest Hills Central on Thursday
The Sailors won by scores of 13-4 and 17-1.
In Game 1, the Sailors took off offensively, recording 13 hits. Leading the team was Brooklyn Graham with three hits, followed by Elizabeth Savacool, Abbie Critchett and Maggie McCarthy with two hits apiece. McCarthy and Savacool each had three RBIs.
Macey Spaniola picked up the win on the mound, allowing nine hits but walking only one and striking out five.
The Sailors followed suit in Game 2. The team totaled 11 hits with Graham and McCarthy getting two apiece. Spaniola, Savacool and Mia Geoghan led the team in RBIs with three apiece. Geoghan earned the win in the circle, allowing four hits and one run and striking out three over three innings.
Spring Lake beats Saugatuck 11-1 and 12-1
Spring Lake pitcher Avery Flynn struck out 10 hitters in the Game 1 victory. She also went 4-for-4 at the plate with a home run. Tegan Rose added three hits and Alexa Carter had two.
Emily Batka pitched the win in Game 2, scattering five hits. Kendra Kieft led Spring Lake with three hits while Carter had two hits, including a homer, and four RBIs.
Spring Lake is now 12-4 overall and 4-4 in O-K Blue conference play.
Whitehall and Hart split a doubleheader
Hart won the opener 5-3 and Whitehall took the nightcap 6-0.
Whitehall pitcher Megan LeaTrea had a good game in the opening loss, striking out nine and getting three hits at the plate. Evelyn Darke and Illeana Hatcher each added two.
LeaTrea pitched a complete-game shutout in the nightcap. Hailey Carnes had three hits and four RBIs for Whitehall while Lucy Tucker added two hits.
Hudsonville gets a 4-3 walk-off win over Rockford
The Hudsonville softball team scored two runs in its final at-bat to gain a walk-off win over Rockford on Thursday.
Six of Hudsonville’s nine hits were bunt singles. Megan Beemer had four hits while Ella Reifschneider added two. Syd Bosgraaf pitched the win, giving up four hits, walking two and striking out 10.
Kent City downs Lakeview 9-3
Abbigal Pecynski and Jacee Hoffman led the Eagles’ offense with three hits each, while Kaila Krueger, Savannah Miller and Samara Kolehouse all posted two RBIs on the night.
Getting the win on the mound for the Eagles was Hoffman, who posted eight strikeouts.
