Kyah McGruther rifled a shot into the corner of the goal with 1:20 left in the game on Monday, giving the Orchard View girls soccer team an exciting 3-2 win over Muskegon Catholic Central in Lakes 8 conference play.
Orchard View led 2-0 at halftime after collecting two goals from Kylee Carmean.
Muskegon Catholic tied the score in the second half on two goals from McKenna Gentry, before McGruther settled the issue in OV’s favor.
Orchard View is now 6-3 overall and 2-2 in conference play.
REETHS-PUFFER 3, NORTH MUSKEGON 1 – Goalie Tessa Lamphere made four saves to help the Rockets come out on top in a short game on Saturday.
Emma Martin led Reeths-Puffer with two goals, followed by Billie Tryska with one. Sophia Hekkema assisted on one of Martin’s goals.
The Rockets outshot North Muskegon 15-12.
Reeths-Puffer is now 9-3 for the season, with a 4-2 record in O-K Green play. The Rockets will face Grand Rapids Union on Tuesday.
[1]MONA SHORES 4, JENISON 1 – Shay Norden led the Sailors to victory with three goals against the Wildcats on Saturday. Ali Trautner scored a single goal.
Addison Nellis, Sophia Fisher, and Emma Anderson assisted on the four goals for Mona Shores.
The Sailors now have a record of 8-1-2, with a 5-0-1 mark in the O-K Green conference.
LUDINGTON 4, MANISTEE 1 – Madeline Billings and Evelyn Pearson each had two goals for the Orioles.
Anyssa Casteneda had three saves in goal for Ludington, which improved to 7-4 overall and 3-1 in Lakes 8 conference play.
NEWAYGO 1, FREMONT 0 – Newaygo scored the only goal of the game 17 minutes into the first half. Macy Powers had three saves in goal for Fremont.
Fremont is now 5-6 overall and 3-3 in conference play while Newaygo is 8-1 and 5-0.
