Monday softball roundup: Hudsonville and Kent City sweep doubleheaders

The Hudsonville softball team won a pair of games against Rockford on Monday.

The Eagles blanked Rockford 5-0 in the first game, then won the nightcap by a 3-1 margin.

Syd Bosgraaf tossed a two-hitter in the opener and struck out 14 batters, while the Eagles offense was paced by Annika Talsma with three hits, including a home run.

Avery Hobson added two hits and two RBIs, while Megan Beemer and Ella Reifschneider each scored two runs.

In Game 2, the Eagles defense turned three double plays.

Beemer, Reifschneider and Talsma each had two hits apiece.

Elly Koopman captured the victory, pitching seven innings while allowing hit hits and striking out five batters.

Kent City sweeps past Hesperia in a doubleheader

The Eagles won by scores of 7-5 and 8-3 against Hesperia on Monday.

Kent City scored two runs in the first, two in the fifth, one in the sixth and three in the seventh.

Hesperia scored three runs in the seventh, but failed to complete a comeback.

The Eagles were led on offense by Kaila Krueger, who had two hits and three RBIs. Lexie Bowers added two hits.

Jacee Hoffman pitched seven innings, allowing six hits and five earned runs while striking out 12 hitters.

In Game 2, the Eagles were paced by Krueger and Bowers with a multiple hit game. Savannah Miller added two RBIs.
