The Fruitport baseball team rallied to pull out a 2-1 victory in Game 1 of an O-K Blue conference doubleheader against Hamilton on Thursday,

Gavin Reames had an RBI single in the fifth inning to tie the game, then scored the winning run on a pass ball.

Cody Matuz pitched the win, holding Hamilton to three hits and one walk with nine strikeouts. Aiden Vela had two hits for Fruitport.

The Trojans won the nightcap 11-6 in six innings.

Reames, Matuz and Ryan Bosch all had two hits and Mayson Whitlow had three hits with three RBIs for Fruitport. Bosch pitched 6 innings, allowing no hits and striking out 10.

North Muskegon beats Sparta 7-5

Troy McManus had two hits, scored two runs and knocked in two more to lead the North Muskegon baseball team to a 7-5 win over Sparta on Thursday in non-conference action.

Sam Gallo got the win on the mound, scattering four hits and only walking two. Ryan Delora pitched the save.

Ben Meyers added two hits and one RBI for the Norse while Gallo had a two-run double.

Oakridge and Ravenna split a pair

Oakridge won the opener 10-0. Brody Jennings pitched the win in Game 1 with some relief help from Adrian Lanore. Jennings scattered four hits while striking out four and walking two.

Ethan Jozsa had three hits, including a homer, for Oakridge. Matt Danicek had two hits and three RBIs and Jennings had two hits and two RBIs.

Ravenna pulled even with a tight 3-2 win in the nightcap. Brandon McFarren picked up the win for the Bulldogs, allowing two hits and striking out three. Collin Poley got the save on the mound. Thomas McClullough had three hits and scored two runs for Ravenna.

Oakridge loaded the bases in the seventh inning but Poley kept the tying run from crossing the plate.

Whitehall beats Hart 10-5, 11-5

Jaden Brinkert pitched the win for Whitehall in Game 1, scattering five hits with eight strikeouts and no walks. Brinkert and Ryne Christensen each had two hits and Landon Howe had one hit and knocked in three runs.

Blake Weirich had two hits for Hart in the opener.

Christensen and Evan Ritchie each had three hits and one RBI for the Vikings in the nightcap while Jack McDowell had two hits. Cam Cole and Taryn Hardy combined to pitch the victory,

Weirich and Kyan Clark each had two hits for Hart.

Hudsonville downs East Kentwood twice

The Eagles took the opener 3-1. Gibby Sinke tossed the win, pitching six innings with eight strikeouts. Sinke also had a hit, sacrifice bunt and RBI in the game.

Dan Ornelas had the big blow for Hudsonville with a two-run homer.

In Game 2, Hudsonville won 7-3 in five innings. Nate Avink picked up his fifth straight win in conference play by allowing only three hits with three strikeouts and no walks.

The Eagles took control by scoring six runs in the third inning. Sam Schafter had two doubles and an RBI in the game, Drew Huizen had two hits and two RBIs, Bryce Baar singled in two runs, Jayden Timmer added an RBI double and Brandon Van Klompenberg had a hit, stole a base and knocked in a run.

Ludington downs Orchard View 9-3

Jaxon Tuttle had two hits and two RBIs for the Cardinals in the losing effort while Chew Allen also had two hits.

Zach Peterson pitched for OV and had three strikeouts.
