The Whitehall baseball team finally got the chance to open its season on Thursday, sweeping a doubleheader from Oakridge in West Michigan Conference play.
The Vikings won the opener 5-2. Ryne Christensen pitched the win, allowing four hits and two walks with 11 strikeouts. Jaden Brinkert and Kyle Stratton both had a single, double and two RBIs.
Whitehall completed the sweep with a 5-3 win that ended after five innings.
Stratton got the win on the mound, scattering five hits with four strikeouts. Taryn Hardy had two hits for Whitehall while Noah Meinert had a two-run double.
