Wednesday baseball roundup: Boersema and Schlaff lead Reeths-Puffer to a 19-8 victory over Zeeland East

Jett Boersema had three hits, including a double, to lead the Reeths-Puffer baseball team to a 19-8 victory over Zeeland East.

Kyle Schlaff added two hits and knocked in four runs and Trent Reichert had two hits, including a double.

Reichert got the win on the mound, striking out nine in four innings. Reliever Caiden Theisen held Zeeland East scoreless in the fifth and final inning.

Montague gets two easy wins over Mason County Central

The Wildcats won by scores of 12-1 and 8-1.

In Game 1, Aiden Buchberger had two hits, including a homer, and two RBIs. Nick Moss added two hits and Tugg Nichols had a two-run double. Kade Johnson struck out nine and allowed only one hit to collect the win.

In Game 2, Buchberger had two hits and two RBIs, Hayden McDonald smashed a three-run double and Nichols had a two-run single.

Colton Blankstrom struck out nine on the mound while allowing two hits.

Coopersville downs Whitehall 9-5 in non-league action

Whitehall pitcher Jaden Brinkert struck out five in three innings in the loss. Taryn Hardy had a two-run single for the Vikings while Landon Howe had an RBI double.

Whitehall is now 2-1 overall.

Ravenna downs Muskegon 15-0

The Bulldogs got the easy win in three innings.

Pitcher Kiegen Swan allowed only one hit, walked two and struck out nine. Brandon McFarren had two hits for Ravenna while Travis May stole three bases and scored three runs.

Ravenna is now 5-4 on the season.

Hudsonville loses one, wins one against Jenison

The Hudsonville baseball team lost the opener of a doubleheader to Jenison 3-0 on Tuesday, then came back and took a 2-0 victory in the nightcap.

Hudsonville loaded the bases with no out in the ninth inning of Game 1, but failed to push across a run. Pitcher Gibson Sinke struck out nine and allowed only two hits in the tough loss.

The Eagles scored two runs in the second inning of Game 2, and that was enough to secure the win.

Nate Avink pitched six strong innings to get the win for Hudsonville. Oliver Raczynski got the save by retiring the side in the seventh inning, including two strikeouts. Jayden Timmer and Mason Dykstra scored the runs for Hudsonville.
