A pair of strong pitching performances led Ravenna to a doubleheader sweep of Whitehall in West Michigan Conference baseball action Tuesday night. The Bulldogs won by scores of 1-0 and 9-0.

In the opener, Travis May took the mound for Ravenna and tossed seven shutout innings, allowing three hits and striking out three. Luke Meyers drove in the lone run of the game in the fourth inning.

Meyers, Tyler Brandtmueller and Dylan Thomas each had hits for Ravenna.

Ryne Christensen started on the mound for Whitehall, allowing one run on four hits in six while striking out six. Kyle Stratton and Landon Howe recorded a hit each for Whitehall.

Brandon McFarren turned in another strong outing for the Bulldogs in Game 2, tossing seven shutout innings with eight strikeouts against three hits. 

May had a starring role at the plate, going 2-for-3 with a double, a home run and three RBI. Brandtmueller had a hit and an RBI while Thomas McCullough had a pair of hits.

Jaden Brinkert pitched for Whitehall, allowing four earned runs on six hits while striking out five over 5 ⅓ innings. Howe led the offense with a pair of hits, while Brendan Schmehil recorded a hit. 

Sailors stay unbeaten in conference play

Mona Shores moved to 7-0 in OK Green conference play with a 5-2 win over Zeeland East Tuesday night.

Jaxon Huffman struck out 11 and allowed just one earned run, picking up his fifth win of the season on the mound. 

Mason Brunworth, Mark Konecny and Landon Thalman led the offense with two hits each. Mona Shores is now 11-2 overall this season.

Rockets sweep Zeeland West

Reeths-Puffer picked up a pair of wins in the OK Green conference Friday, topping Zeeland West 10-0 and 8-2.

Trent Reichert allowed just one hit in four innings while striking out five to earn the win in Game 1. Brody Panozzo led the offense with two hits, while Kaden Edwards added a double

Alex Johnson led the way at the plate in Game 2, collecting three hits including a double and a triple. Kaden Edwards and Kyle Schlaff both had doubles in the nightcap.

Jordan Bochenek, Jaxson Whitaker and Panozzo combined to allow just four hits on the mound.

North Muskegon sweeps the Spartans

The Norse picked up a pair of wins of Mason County Central in a West Michigan Conference doubleheader by scores of 12-1 and 18-3 on Tuesday night.

Troy McManus picked up the win in Game 1, allowing one run on three hits in five innings while striking out five. Ryan Delora and Carsen Moat led the offense with a pair of hits each, while Ben Meyers picked up a hit and RBI. 

In Game 2, Delora earned the win while allowing three runs in three innings with two strikeouts. Meyers led the offense with a grand slam, while McManus and Denny Belmonte picked up a pair of hits each. Delora helped his cause at the plate with five RBIs. 

Trojans fall to West Catholic

Fruitport dropped an OK Blue conference game with West Catholic by a score of 13-4 Tuesday. The game was tied 3-3 entering the fourth before West Catholic pulled away.

Ryan Bosch and Hayden Harper had two hits each to lead Fruitport. 

Tuesday’s second game was postponed until Thursday due to weather.
