Mona Shores continued its winning ways on the baseball diamond Thursday night, sweeping an OK Green doubleheader with Zeeland East. The Sailors won the first game 14-2 and took the second 6-3.

Jason Anderson was on the mound for the opener. He allowed two runs in six innings while striking out seven. 

Mona Shores smacked 14 hits, led by Mark Konecny with three hits, three RBI and two runs scored. Diego Pena added two hits, including a two-run homer. Landen Thalman, Aaron Piasecki, Bryson Belanger and Javanni Johnson each had two hits.

Johnson earned the win on the mound in Game 2, collecting three strikeouts and allowing two runs. Konecny again led at the plate, blasting a two-run homer and collecting three total RBI. 

Jaxon Huffman had a hit and two RBI.

Mona Shores is now 13-2 overall this season and 9-0 in OK Green play. 

Rockets take out Zeeland West

Reeths-Puffer finished off a three game conference sweep of Zeeland West with a 9-4 win on Thursday night. 

Jaxon Whitaker picked up the win on the mound. Brody Panozzo led the offense with three hits, while Jett Boersema and David Wilhelm scored a pair of runs each. 

With the win, the Rockets improve to 9-1 overall. 

Orchard View splits with Covenant Christian

The Cardinals fell 4-2 in the opening game, but bounced back with a 5-0 win in the nightcap. 

Kellen Morgan pitched Game 1, tossing 4 ⅓ innings with two strikeouts. Nolan Smith led the offense with a pair of hits.

In Game 2, Daulton DeGroot pitched a shutout to earn the win. Smith and Jacob Peterman both smacked a pair of hits in the win.

Orchard View is now 3-6 on the season.

Whitehall takes two from Comstock Park

The Vikings swept a non-conference doubleheader Thursday, winning by scores of 5-3 and 11-5. 

Jack McDowell pitched the opener, allowing three unearned runs in seven innings with five strikeouts. Landon Howe had three hits and two RBI to lead the offense.

Evan Ritchie had two doubles and an RBI, while Kyle Stratton and Jaden Brinkert both had a hit and an RBI. 

Stratton and Ryne Christensen led the attack in Game 2, both having two hits and an RBI. Lowe and Brendan Schmehil both drove in two runs.

Sam Cole got the win for the Vikings, pitching six innings and striking out four.

Muskegon falls to Wyoming

The Big Reds dropped an OK Green conference matchup 18-1 on THursday evening.

Angel Renteria had a hit and drove in Muskegon’s lone run. Kayse Kutz and Princeton Blackmon.

WMC, Ludington split conference doubleheader

Western Michigan Christian took the opener of a Lakes 8 doubleheader 5-3 before Ludington responded with a 6-3 in the second game.

Sam Sipe got the win in Game 1 for WMC, turning in a complete game allowing two earned runs on seven hits while striking out six. Sam Liggett and Samuel VanOrman led the offense with three hits a piece, while Sipe and Alex Wagonmaker both had two RBI.

In Game 2, Liggett and Caleb McKay led the attack with a pair of hits each, while Sipe, Jamie Cho and Ethan Hill each drove in a run.

Fruitport drops conference game

The Trojans dropped the opener of a planned doubleheader with Grand Rapids West Catholic 6-5, while the second game was called due to darkness with the score tied 5-5.

Brady French led the offense with two hits and two RBI in Game 1. French and Cody Matuz led the attack in Game 2 with a pair of hits each.
