Thursday softball roundup: Ravenna continues strong start with a doubleheader sweep over Mason County Central

The Ravenna softball team remained perfect on the season with 15-0 and 24-0 wins over Mason County Central on Thursday in a doubleheader.

In Game 1 Emma Gillard pitched a perfect game, striking out 10 batters. Emma Herremans and Liberty Willick led the Bulldogs with two hits each while Amelia Porter, Emma Gillard, Alexis McMahon and Isolde Deal each had one.

In Game 2, Emma Gillard pitched her second straight no-hitter, striking out five hitters. Herremans paced Ravenna with two triples and a home run in the nightcap, while Addison Gillard had a single, double and home run. Kara Postema chipped in with two doubles and Emma Gillard also had two hits.

The Bulldogs are now 6-0 overall and 2-0 in West Michigan Conference play.

Hudsonville posts a 14-0 win over West Ottawa

Hudsonville pitcher Sydney Bosgraaf threw a no-hitter with 12 strikeouts and only one walk in the victory. Elly Koopman hit a home run for the Eagles in her first varsity plate appearance.

Hudsonville had 14 hits in the game, led by Bosgraaf and Ashley Sorrell with three apiece.

Oakridge cruises to a doubleheader sweep over Whitehall

The Oakridge softball team earned a pair of West Michigan Conference victories, defeating Whitehall 14-2 in Game 1 then blanking the Vikings 14-0 in the nightcap.

The Vikings were led by Illeana Hatcher, who hit a home run, and Hailey Carnes with a pair of hits.

Hesperia wins a pair of games against White Cloud in doubleheader

The Panthers scored 42 total runs on Thursday, defeating White Cloud 21-1 and 21-7 in doubleheader sweep.

In Game 1, Emma Joppich pitched the victory, striking out six batters in three innings.

Emmi Tinkham led the Hesperia offense with four hits, five RBIs and four runs scored. Abby Joppich added two hits, five RBIs and four runs scored. Allie Townsend chipped in with a triple, three runs scored and two RBIs.

In Game 2, Kaity Skok tossed the win while striking out seven hitters in five innings.

Townsend led the offense with four hits and five runs scored, while Joppich had two hits, three runs scored and three RBIs. Adriana Slater contributed three hits, three runs and two RBIs.

Hesperia is now 2-2 overall on the season.

Mona Shores overcomes Forest Hills Eastern comeback effort

The Sailors earned a 13-10 win over Thursday over Forest Hills Eastern despite giving up six runs in the seventh inning.

Mona Shores collected 13 hits as a team, led by Elizabeth Savacool, Amilia Pena, Kristen Hylland and Macey Spaniola, who all had multiple hits.

Hylland tossed the victory for the Sailors, allowing seven runs on seven hits while striking out 10 batters in 6 2/3 innings.
