The Fruitport boys baseball team came out on top in a non-conference clash against Muskegon Catholic Friday night, winning by an 11-0 margin.
The Trojans pitching was led by Cody Matuz, who picked up the win allowing only four hits while striking out 10 batters in five innings of work.
Hayden Harper and Brady French led Fruitport offensively with three hits and two RBIs each. Gavin Reames added two hits, while Aiden Vela reached base four times on walks.
The Crusaders, who dropped to 4-6 overall on the season, were led by Brayden Gustin with two hits.
Oakridge drops non-league game to Hudsonville Unity Christian
The Eagles allowed nine runs on 21 hits as they fell to Unity Christian 9-6 in extra innings on Friday night.
Brody Jennings scored two runs for the Eagles, while posting two hits and getting an RBI. Ryan Cribbins also had two hits for the Eagles, including a triple in the eighth to keep the game going into the ninth inning.
Whitehall loses both of its games against Zeeland East
The Vikings fell short in their doubleheader with Zeeland East, losing the opening game 8-1 before getting blanked 1-0 during the nightcap.
Ryne Christensen, Cash Bloomberg-Brown and Isaac VanAmberg each struck out two batters in the opening game loss, while Kyle Stratton had three strikeouts during Game 2.
VanAmberg scored the only run for the Vikings in Game 1, while Brendan Schmehil and Landon Howe each notched a hit. Stratton and Schmehil each had hits in Game 2.
Hart plows past Manistee Catholic Central in both games of a doubleheader
The Pirates cruised to 16-1 and 12-2 wins over Manistee Catholic Central on Friday night to improve to 4-4 on the season.
Blake Weirich picked up the win on the mound for the Pirates, surrendering only one hit, while in Game 2, Kory Charron completed the game on the mound to notch the win.
The Pirates offense was hot all night, with Kory Charron, Logan Purdy and Nick Simon each had a multi-hit game in Game 1.
In Game 2, Kyan Clark led the offense with two hits and four RBIs. Also having a good night at bat was Weirich, who scored two runs.
Grand Haven doubles up Reeths-Puffer under the lights
The Bucs cruised to a 12-6 win over Reeths-Puffer on Friday in a non-league contest.
Xavier Rodriguez recorded the win on the mound for the Buccaneers, striking out two on the night.
Trent Reichert pitched the first three innings for the Rockets, where he recorded three strikeouts. Alex Orchard and Caiden Theisen finished the game from the mound for Reeths-Puffer.
The Buccaneers offense notched seven runs in the seventh inning, while Evan DuVall, Trenton Caswell and Jared Tithof all had three hits on the night.
DuVall and Ty Sandwick both led the team in RBIs with three apiece.
The Rockets posted four hits on the night, with Kaden Edwards, Alex Johnson, Kyle Schlaff and David Wilhelm each recording one each.
Reeths-Puffer falls to 9-2 on the season.
