Sam Sipe tossed a no-hitter for Western Michigan Christian in his team’s conference opener on Tuesday. His standout performance was part of WMC’s doubleheader sweep over Orchard View by scores of 15-0 and 16-3.
Sipe threw a four inning no-hitter in Game 1, striking out five hitters. Jamie Cho and Caleb McKay had three RBIs a piece, while Sam Liggett and Ethan Hill recorded three hits each.
In Game 2, Alex Wagonmaker picked up the win on the mound. He helped his cause at the plate, leading the offense with three hits.
Peña homers twice, Sailors stay unbeaten
The Sailors remained undefeated on the season with a pair of OK Green conference wins against Zeeland West 10-0 and 5-3.
Jaxon Huffman threw a five inning complete game shutout in the opener, allowing only two hits while striking out nine hitters. Diego Peña led the offense with a two-run home run. Huffman and Bryson Belanger picked up two RBIs apiece, while Jason Anderson picked up a pair of hits.
In Game 2, Javanni Johnson picked up the win on the mound allowing three runs on four hits while striking out five hitters. Anderson led the offense with three hits including a home run. Peña homered in the game as well, while Aaron Piasecki recorded a hit.
The Sailors improve to 9-0 overall, and 5-0 in conference play.
Fruitport sweeps Spring Lake
The Trojans won the first game 6-5 before winning the second game 4-1. The second game was called after five innings due to darkness.
Gavin Reames earned the Game 1 victory in relief, going two innings and striking out five hitters. Mayson Whitlow led the offense with three RBIs, while Aiden Vela, Cody Matuz and Braxton Ward picked up a pair of hits each.
The Lakers were led by Zach Schlepp, Jack Moser, Ty French and Kreegan Deverney, recording a hit each.
In Game 2, Whitlow and Brady French paced the Trojan offense with two RBIs a piece. Whitlow started on the mound, pitching four innings allowing one run on two hits while striking six hitters.
North Muskegon sweeps Ravenna
The Norse picked up a conference doubleheader sweep of the Bulldogs Tuesday night, winning by scores of 13-3 and 22-0.
Troy McManus got the start on the mound in Game 1, turning in six innings pitched allowing three runs on seven hits while striking out six. Ben Meyers led the offense with a home run and three RBIs. McManus helped his cause with three hits, while Ryan Delora and Denny Belmonte both homered.
In Game 2, Delora allowed no runs on one hit in his four innings of work, while grabbing four hits at the plate. Meyers and Sam Gallo finished with three hits apiece, while McManus and Chris Corbertt both had two.
Kent City splits with Morley Stanwood
The Eagles split a CSAA Silver doubleheader with Morley Stanwood on Tuesday night. The Eagles won the first game 9-0 before dropping the night cap 10-4.
Kyler Larson started Game 1 for Kent City, turning in 4 ⅓ innings and allowing two hits, while striking out 11. Tyler Brummel led the offense with three RBIs. Larson, Zane Kik, and Ryan Darling picked up a hit each.
In Game 2, Troy Atwood started on the mound going 4 ⅔ allowing three earned runs and five hits while striking out six. Kik and Ryan McCuaig led the offense with a pair of hits each.
Holton picks up first wins of the season
The Red Devils picked up a pair of wins over White Cloud in a CSAA Silver conference doubleheader Tuesday night. The Red Devils won by scores of 7-4 and 9-4.
Steven Kersting picked up the win in Game 1, going 4 ⅓ innings allowing three earned runs and striking out three hitters. Kersting and Bo Larabee led the offense with a pair of hits, while Carter Brant and Chase Albricht had a hit each.
In Game 2, Kevin Erickson was victorious pitching 3 ⅔ innings allowing three earned runs, while striking out one. Larabee, Albricht, Austin Fowler, Jason Hibbs, and Brodrick Fialek finished with a hit each.
