Natalie Kunnen ripped a bases-loaded triple in the bottom of the seventh inning to give the Reeths-Puffer softball team an exciting 10-8 come-from-behind victory over Whitehall on Tuesday.
Whitehall led 8-3 going into the bottom of the seventh and final inning, but the Rockets stole the victory by scoring seven runs.
The Rockets totaled 11 hits in the game, with Kunnen collecting two doubles and a triple and Kaylee Jones getting two doubles and a single.
R-P pitcher Caitlynn Duffey got the win with 11 strikeouts and also had two hits, including a home run.
The second game of the doubleheader ended incomplete after three innings with Reeths-Puffer leading 6-5.
Spring Lake takes two from Orchard View
Avery Flynn struck out nine and walked only one without allowing a hit in the Spring Lake softball team’s 15-0 victory over Orchard View in the opener of a non-league doubleheader on Tuesday.
Kendra Kieft, Tessa Britt and Avery Britt each had two hits for the Lakers in the win.
Spring Lake competed the doubleheader sweep with an 18-3 victory in the nightcap.
Pitcher Emily Batka struck out four in a complete-game victory. Tessa Britt had three more hits, including a home run, and knocked in seven runs. Flynn and Lexa Carter also had three hits apiece.
