Ravenna used a 7-3 advantage in overtime to beat Montague in boys basketball action Tuesday night. The Bulldogs came out on top 52-48 after the extra session in the final conference game for both teams.

Ravenna led 14-9 after the first quarter and held a 22-18 lead at halftime. Montague drew within 31-29 heading to the fourth. A basket from Tate Stine late in the fourth tied the game at 45-45, sending it to overtime.

Grant Becklin paced the Bulldogs with 21 points. Kyle Beebe chipped in with 16 points while Clay Schullo finished with eight points.

Stine led the Wildcats with 15 points, while Colton Blankstrom scored 12 points. 

Ravenna improves to 12-6 overall and 10-4 in conference play, good for second place. Montague is now 13-6 overall, including 8-6 in the WMC. 

WEST MICHIGAN CONFERENCE

OAKRIDGE 68, HART 39 — The Eagles dominated the first quarter 27-3 en route to a West Michigan Conference victory over the Pirates Tuesday night.

The Eagles led 41-17 at halftime, and took a 57-26 lead into the start of the fourth quarter. 

Hunter DeLora paced the Eagles with 23 points. Garrett Weaver finished the game with 19 points, seven rebounds and six assists while Peyton Ruel chipped in with nine points and seven assists. Ethan Jozsa added seven points and 11 rebounds.

Caleb Bitley led the Pirates with 14 points, while Logan Purdy and Wyatt Dean scored six points each. 

The Eagles finish the regular season 12-8, including 8-6 in the WMC. Hart is now 5-14 on the year and finishes conference play at 2-12.

NON-CONFERENCE

GRAND HAVEN 60, SAGINAW ARTHUR HILL 52 — The Buccaneers snapped a short two-game losing streak with a non-conference win to close the regular season.

Grand Haven finishes the season 17-3 overall and will play Reeths-Puffer in the first round of districts next week.

Bashir Neely paced the Bucs with 25 points. Nic Stump added 17 points, while Harrison Sorrelle finished with 10.

ZEELAND EAST 52 LUDINGTON 48 — A poor second quarter doomed the Orioles as they fell in non-conference action Tuesday night.

Ludington started strong and led 17-9 after the first quarter, but the Chix dominated the second quarter 15-2 to lead 24-19 at halftime. The Orioles cut the lead to 39-37 heading to the fourth and took the lead in the fourth, but couldn’t hold on.

David Schillinger led Ludington with 14 points and Gage Jones added 10.

The Orioles are now 11-8 overall this season and will face Mason County Central on Thursday to close the regular season.

HOLTON 43, MUSKEGON CATHOLIC CENTRAL 22 — Wyatt Monette’s 21 points led the Red Devils to a non-conference victory on Tuesday night. 

The Red Devils grabbed an 11-6 lead after the first quarter and led 22-12 at halftime. Holton extended the lead to 35-15 heading into the fourth quarter.

Kevin Erickson helped Holton’s cause with 10 points, while Bret Hosmer finished with seven.

Chase Willer scored 12 points to lead MCC.

The Red Devils move to 14-5 overall with the win and will close the regular season against Grant on Thursday. The Crusaders fall to 5-13 overall and will face Black River in their final regular season game Friday.

FENNVILLE 56, WESTERN MICHIGAN CHRISTIAN 50 — The Warriors battled back after a slow start, but suffered a loss at the hands of Fennville in non-conference action on Tuesday night. 

Owen Vernado paced the Warriors with 24 points and 13 rebounds, while Sam Liggett finished the contest with 13 points. 

Western Michigan Christian is now 7-12 on the year and will finish the regular season with a game against Whitehall on Thursday.

BALDWIN 61, HESPERIA 25 — The Panthers fell behind early and never recovered in a non-conference game. 

Baldwin led 17-4 after one quarter, 31-9 at halftime and 58-18 at the end of the third.

Maddox Mosley led the Panthers with 11 points. Hesperia is now 1-17 overall and will close the regular season against Shelby on Thursday.

WEST MICHIGAN D LEAGUE

PENTWATER 58, MANISTEE CATHOLIC CENTRAL 49 — Tyler Plummer-Eisenlohr scored 23 points as the Falcons picked up a senior night victory over Manistee Catholic Central Tuesday night. 

Will Werkema-Grondsma finished the contest with 18 points and nine rebounds, while Drew Kolenda scored nine points. 

Pentwater fell behind 11-7 after the first quarter and trailed 24-20 at halftime. The Falcons outscored the Sabers 16-5 in the third quarter to take a 36-29 into the fourth quarter. 

With the win, the Falcons improve to 7-10 overall and 7-8 in conference play.

HOPKINS 51, KENT CITY 34 — The Eagles struggled offensively in a non-conference game against Hopkins on Tuesday night.

Kent City trailed just 14-11 after one quarter, but trailed 33-18 by halftime. The Eagles trailed 41-26 after the third quarter.

Carter Magoon paced the Eagles with 12 points.

Kent City is now 13-6 on the season and will finish the regular season against Orchard View on Thursday.
