The Muskegon Heights girls basketball team overcame a 15-point halftime deficit and roared back to stun Martin 43-40 on Tuesday in a Division 4 regional semifinal game.

The Clippers took a big lead over Muskegon Heights early in the game, outscoring the Tigers 15-4 in the first quarter. The second quarter did not go much better, and Martin led 29-14 at halftime.

With a 15-point deficit, the Muskegon Heights girls needed to switch up their game. The Tigers went into a triangle-and-two defense to shut down Martin’s shooters and held the Clippers to just two points in the third quarter and nine in the fourth.

The Tiger offense did the rest, scoring 11 points in the third quarter and 18 in the fourth to claim the comeback win.

Teneshia Nolan led Muskegon Heights with 18 points, followed by A’Niea Johnson with 13 and Ty’Veonna Davis with 12.

The Tigers will face Gobles at Martin High School on Thursday in the regional championship game.
