The Muskegon Heights girls basketball team made quite a run on its way to a state quarterfinal matchup.
The Tigers amazing run ended abruptly with a 69-38 loss to Adrian Lenawee Christian on Tuesday at Richland Gull Lake High School.
Muskegon Heights ended its season with an 8-9 overall record after finishing the regular season with a 5-8 record.
The Tigers advanced to the quarterfinals after beating Martin last week in the regional semifinals and Gobles.
Muskegon Heights fell behind quickly, trailing 22-8 after the first quarter and 35-17 at halftime. The Tigers entered the fourth quarter with a 56-28 deficit.
“It was a very disappointing finish, but we didn’t expect to get this far,” said Muskegon Heights coach Tyrie Johnson. “We just ran into a really great team.
“We got better at the end of the season once we learned to play as a team.”
Ty’Donna Davis paced the Tigers with 17 points while Teneshia Nolen scored 10.
