The Muskegon Catholic Central girls soccer team opened its 2022 season with an exciting 2-1 victory over Fremont on Wednesday in non-conference action.
Fremont took a 1-0 lead on a goal by Mia Clemence. MCC responded before halftime with a goal from Sara Albanese, and the score was tied 1-1 at intermission.
McKenna Gentry scored the game-winner for the Crusaders about 10 minutes into the second half.
Muskegon Catholic had a 12-6 advantage in shots on goal. Crusader goalie Claire LaVigne had five saves in the victory.
