The Grand Haven girls basketball team held off a late comeback attempt by Grand Rapids Union and held on for a 63-56 victory on Monday in the first round of the Division 1 district tournament.
The Buccaneers led 17-15 after one quarter, 34-35 at halftime and 52-42 after three quarters.
Zoe Spoelman and Caydee Constant paced Grand Haven with 17 and 16 points, respectively. Molly Long added eight points and snagged 13 rebounds.
Grand Haven will play Mona Shores on Wednesday in the semifinal round.
