The Spring Lake girls basketball team opened its district semifinal contest strong, leading to a 51-29 win over Whitehall on Wednesday.

The Lakers jumped out to a 16-2 lead after the opening quarter and never looked back.

Meah Bajt paced Spring Lake with 13 points and five rebounds, while Jennifer Judge added nine points and eight rebounds. Brooke Bolthouse chipped in with nine points.

The Vikings, who ended their season with a 9-13 record, were led by Charlie Klint with a game-high 16 points.

Spring Lake is now 13-8 overall on the season and will face Montague on Friday for a district title.

DIVISION 2

MONTAGUE 41, OAKRIDGE 35 – The Wildcats advanced to the district finals after defeating their conference foe on Wednesday in district semifinals action.

Montague trailed 8-5 after the first quarter but went on a 10-4 run in the second to take a 15-12 lead at halftime.

The Wildcats led 26-22 through three quarters and closed out the game outscoring Oakridge by a slim 15-13 margin.

Kendall Osborne led Montague with 10 points and five rebounds, while Emma Peterson added eight points. Claire Meacham chipped in with eight points and 11 rebounds.

The Wildcats, who are currently 17-4 on the season, will face Spring Lake in a D2 district title game.

Oakridge finished its season with an 8-14 overall record and was 6-8 in league play.

Jasmine Pastor led the Eagles with 11 points and six rebounds, while Anna Lundquist added 10 points and eight rebounds. Destyni Lane chipped in with eight points.

LUDINGTON 36, REED CITY 15 – RyAnn Rohrer scored nine points for the Orioles in the semifinal victory while Rylee Stone added eight.

Ludington will host Big Rapds in the district championship game on Friday night.

NEWAYGO 51, FREMONT 17 – Newaygo led 14-6 after one quarter and 27-11 at halftime, then pulled away with a 20-1 advantage in the third quarter.

Haley Zerlaut had eight points for Fremont while Mia Witte added six.

DIVISION 3

HART 59, HOLTON 22 – The Pirates jumped out to a 14-7 lead after one quarter, led 29-15 at halftime and had a 44-17 advantage heading into the fourth.

Mariana VanAgtmael paced Hart with 14 points, while Aspen Boutell added 13. Both Addi Hovey and Abby Hicks chipped in with eight points apiece.

The Pirates will face the winner of Western Michigan Christian and North Muskegon on Friday in a D3 district final game.
