The Montague boys basketball team overcame an early deficit and beat Oakridge 55-39 on Wednesday in a Division 2 district semifinal contest between conference rivals.
The Wildcats trailed 13-12 after one quarter, but then gained the upper hand and led 29-21 at halftime and 41-28 headed into the fourth.
Paul Olsen paced Montague with 15 points on the night. Isaiah Atchison added 10 points and 12 rebounds and Tate Stine chipped in eight points and six blocks.
Owen Raeth and Tugg Nichols each scored eight points for the Wildcats, as well.
Montague, 16-6, will face archrival Whitehall in the district finals on Friday at Spring Lake High School.
Oakridge finished the season with a 12-9 record.

HOLLAND WEST OTTAWA 46, HUDSONVILLE 43 – The Hudsonville boys had a strong start, but lost their lead in the second half to bring their season to an end.
The Eagles led 13-10 after the first quarter and 29-14 at halftime, but West Ottawa led 36-34 after three quarters and hung on for the win.
Brayden Szamrej led Hudsonville with 12 points.
The Eagles ended their season with a 9-12 record, while West Ottawa improved to 10-12. The Panthers will play Grandville for the district title on Friday.
DIVISION 2
WHITEHALL 62, SPRING LAKE 57 – The Vikings pulled out the victory in a rematch of last year’s Division 2 district title game, which Spring Lake won.
The Vikings led 17-8 after the first quarter, 25-21 at halftime, and 39-33 after three, then held the Lakers off down the stretch.
Porter Saunders scored 21 points to lead the Lakers, with Kaden George adding 19 points and Jackson Core totalling eight points, seven rebounds, three assists, and three steals.
Whitehall, now 16-5, will face Montague in the district title game on Friday at Spring Lake High School.
Spring Lake finished the season with a 9-13 mark.
LUDINGTON 54, BIG RAPIDS 43 – The Orioles gained their advantage by outscoring the Cardinals 17-7 in the third quarter. David Shillinger scored seven points for Ludington in the third and Levi Laman added six.
Shillinger led the Orioles in the contest with 20 points, followed by Laman with 13 and Peyton LaCombe with 10.
Dawson Dunn scored 11 points to lead Big Rapids, with Jack Ruggles adding 10.
Ludington, now 14-8,will face Cadillac on Friday in the district title game.
Big Rapids finished with an 18-3 record.
DIVISION 3
HOLTON 54, HART 45 – Austin Fowler and Carter Brant each scored 16 points to lead the Holton boys to victory against the Pirates.
Wyatt Monette added 15 points for the Red Devils.
Holton led 10-9 after one quarter, but Hart held a 20-19 lead going into halftime.
Holton regained the lead and had a 35-33 edge heading into the fourth, then pulled away down the stretch.
Wyatt Dean led the Pirates with 15 points, followed by Caleb Bitely with seven points.
Holton, now 15-6, will face North Muskegon in Friday’s championship game at Western Michigan Christian High School.
Hart ended its season with a 7-15 record.
RAVENNA 53, KENT CITY 41 – Grant Becklin led the Bulldogs with 20 points and seven rebounds, followed by Kyle Beebe with 15 points and Clay Schullo with 14.
Ravenna led 16-9 at the end of the first quarter, 27-17 going into halftime and 37-29 after the third.
Jaret Jaramillo scored 15 points to lead Kent City while Hayden Carlson adding nine.
Ravenna, now 14-6, will face Montabella on Friday in the district championship game.
DIVISION 4
FRUITPORT CALVARY CHRISTIAN 70, HUDSONVILLE LIBERTAS 27 – Bradley Richards led the Eagles with 14 points, including three dunks.
Quinn Swanson added 13 points for the Eagles, Ethan Cammenga added eight, Karsten Sutherland totaled 10 rebounds and Jacob May had eight points and six assists.
The Eagles led 27-11 after one quarter and 41-11 in the second before resting their starters for the balance of the game.
Fruitport Calvary Christian, now 16-6, will host Muskegon Heights in the district title game on Friday.
