Tyler Plummer Eisenlohr scored 28 points to lead the Pentwater boys basketball team to a 62-55 victory over Marion in the first round of the Division 4 district tournament in McBain on Monday.
The Falcons jumped out to a 15-11 edge after the first quarter and led 29-20 at halftime. They led 49-36 headed into the fourth quarter then held on for the victory.
Will Werkema Grondsma nearly finished with a triple double for Pentwater, totaling 13 points, 11 rebounds and nine steals, while Drew Kolenda finished with 10 points.
The Falcons, 8-11 overall, will play host McBain Northern Michigan Christian in the district semifinals on Wednesday at 5:30 p.m.
DIVISION 2
SPRING LAKE 59, ORCHARD VIEW 32 – The Lakers held the Cardinals to 10 first half points and marched to victory in the Division 2 district quarterfinals.The Lakers jumped out to a 15-5 lead after the first quarter and 31-10 at halftime. They extended the lead to 45-19 at the end of the third quarter.
Derrick Paggeot paced the Lakers with 12 points, and 11 rebounds. Evan McDermott added 10 points while Jackson Core and Porter Saunders finished with eight points apiece.
Spring Lake, 9-12, now moves on to play Whitehall on Wednesday at Spring Lake High School at 5:30 p.m.
LUDINGTON 57, REED CITY 36 – Peyton LaCombe’s 29 points helped the Orioles outdistance the Coyotes in Division 2 district quarterfinal action.
The Orioles jumped out to a 20-16 edge after the first quarter and led 33-24 at halftime. Ludington extended the lead in the third quarter, outscoring Reed City 12-3 to take a 45-27 advantage into the fourth.
David Schillinger played a big part in the victory, recording 17 points for Ludington.
The Orioles,13-8, will play Big Rapids at Manistee High School on Wednesday at 5:30 p.m.
DIVISION 3
KENT CITY 62, LAKEVIEW 24 – The Eagles soared to a 19-0 lead after one quarter of and led 36-7 at halftime and 57-16 after three quarters.
Hayden Carlson paced Kent City with 19 points while Jarret Jaramillo finished with 18.
The Eagles, 15-6, now move on to the semifinals to play Ravenna at White Cloud High School on Wednesday at 7 p.m.
MASON COUNTY CENTRAL 76, HARRISON 55 – The Spartans scored 52 points in the second half to pull away from Harrison in the district quarterfinal game.
MCC led 12-7 after one quarter and 24-16 at halftime, then outscored Harrison 25-16 in the third quarter and 27-23 in the fourth.
Will Chye led the Spartans with 23 points, five rebounds and six assists. Jayden Perrone added 18 points and seven rebounds, Dakota Sterley scored 12 points and Kolden Myer had eight points and 11 boards.
Mason County Central will face Evart in Wednesday’s district semifinals at 5:30 p.m.
