Muskegon Heights edged Muskegon Catholic Central in a Lakes 8 boys basketball contest that came down to the wire Friday night. 

The Tigers came away with a 43-38 victory, ending the game on a 6-0 run in the final 30 seconds.

Muskegon Catholic Central took a 38-37 lead on a pair of free throws by Jaden Johnson before the Tigers scored with just under 30 seconds left to go up by one. 

After an MCC miss, the Crusaders were called for a technical foul which allowed Muskegon Heights to add to the lead and close out the game.

The Crusaders led 11-8 after the first quarter, but Muskegon Heights pulled even at 18-18 heading to halftime. The Tigers led 30-28 heading into the final quarter.

Johnson posted a double-double of 17 points and 12 rebounds to lead MCC. Dane Rutz chipped in seven points and seven rebounds for MCC.

Muskegon Heights improves to 8-5 overall and 5-2 in conference play. The Crusaders are now 4-9 this year, including 3-5 in Lakes 8 play.
