Kenowa Hills girls overcome Muskegon in the fourth quarter, stun the Big Reds 43-37 in D1 district opener

The Kenowa Hills girls basketball team used a big fourth quarter to upset host Muskegon 43-37 in the first round of the Division 1 district tournament on Monday.

The Knights led 13-7 after one quarter, then Muskegon had an 18-12 advantage in the second quarter, leaving the score tied 25-25 at halftime.

The Big Reds led 36-33 after three quarters, but Kenowa Hills outscored Muskegon 10-1 in the fourth to steal the victory.

Adrianna Marsiglia was the big gun for the Knights, scoring a game-high 24 points, including 10 in the first quarter, 10 in the second and four in the fourth.

Layla Harris led the Big Reds with 11 points while McKynna Sims added six points with a pair of triples.

Kenowa Hills, now 10-11 on the season, advances to play Reeths-Puffer on Wednesday at 7 p.m. in the district semifinals.

Muskegon, which led the O-K Green conference until late in the season, finished with an 11-8 record.
