Holton outlasted Western Michigan Christian in a tightly-contested boys basketball game Tuesday night. The Red Devils came away with a 44-40 win in the non-conference clash.
Both offenses started slow, with WMC leading 7-6 after one quarter and the game tied at 15-15 at the half. Shots started falling in the third quarter, though, with Holton grabbing an 18-16 edge to lead 33-31 after three quarters.
The Red Devils outscored WMC 11-9 in the fourth to close out the win.
Wyatt Monette posted a double-double of 13 points and 10 rebounds to lead Holton. Austin Fowler had 12 points and five assists, while Kevin Erickson scored 11 points and Carter Brant tossed in eight.
Owen Varnado led the Warriors with a game-high 20 points. Jared Olsen added 11 for WMC.
Holton is now 12-5 overall this season, including 7-2 in CSAA Silver play. Western Michigan Christian is now 5-11 overall and 5-3 in the Lakes 8.
