The Western Michigan Christian boys basketball team proved to be the better team Friday night, as they downed their conference rival Muskegon Catholic 41-38 on the road in Lakes 8 play.

The game was close throughout with WMC leading 7-4 after the first quarter. The game was tied 14-14 at halftime and the Warriors regained their advantage at 25-23 heading into the fourth.

The Warriors were led by Jared Olsen with 19 points while Joe Waller added eight points and grabbed eight rebounds.

MCC was paced by Jaden Johnson with 17 points on 7-for-7 shooting, while Tramel Caviness added eight rebounds and four assists.

The Warriors are now 6-11 on the season and 6-3 in league play, while MCC falls to 5-12 overall and 3-7 in conference action.

LAKES 8 CONFERENCE

LUDINGTON 59, MUSKEGON HEIGHTS 36- The Orioles controlled the game all night and earned a Lakes 8 victory to remain perfect in league play on Friday night.

Ludington jumped out to an early 19-8 lead after one quarter and were up 23-19 at halftime.

The Orioles pulled away during the third quarter, leading 43-27 entering the fourth quarter.

Peyton LaCombe paced Ludington with 14 points and 11 rebounds, while David Schillinger added 12 points and Aiden Gilchrist scored 10.

The Tigers were led by Jakari Edwards with 11 points.

Ludington finished its regular season 11-7 overall and 10-0 in the Lakes 8 conference, while the Tigers were 11-6 on the season and 7-3 in league play.

O-K RED CONFERENCE

HUDSONVILLE 60, WEST OTTAWA 40- The Eagles came out to play Friday night, downing the West Ottawa in OK-Red Conference action in front of a senior-night crowd.

Hudsonville struggled early, trailing 20-15 after the first quarter, but led 30-22 at halftime and 47-31 through three quarters.

Brayden Szamrej led the Eagles with 19 points on the night, while Aden Zank was also in double figures with 17.

The Eagles finished their regular season with 9-11 overall record and were 7-7 in conference play.

O-K BLUE CONFERENCE

GR WEST CATHOLIC 55, SPRING LAKE 43- The Lakers fell in OK-Blue conference action on Friday night in a game that saw many lead changes.

West Catholic hopped out to a 20-11 lead after one quarter, but the Lakers stormed back to take a halftime lead of 25-23.

The Falcons regained their advantage at 35-33 heading into the final stanza.

The Lakers were led by Kaden George with 13 points while Porter Saunders added 11. Jackson Core had a solid game with six points, seven rebounds and three assists.

Spring Lake moves to 8-11 overall and 5-9 in the OK-Blue and will finish its season next week in a non-conference tilt against Reeths-Puffer.

UNITY CHRISTIAN 75, COOPERSVILLE 55- The Broncos came up short in an OK-Blue match Friday night on the road.

Unity Christian started out hot and was up 18-10 after one quarter, and never looked back, leading 33-26 at halftime and 50-43 through three quarters.

The Broncos were led by Luke Sanford and Ty Anthony, who had 13 and 12 points, respectively.

Coopersville improves to 11-7 overall, and 8-6 in the OK-Blue and will finish its season next week with two non-conference matchups against Sparta and Zeeland East.

WEST MICHIGAN CONFERENCE

WHITEHALL 61, MASON COUNTY CENTRAL 53 – The Vikings earned another West Michigan Conference win on Friday night.

Whitehall led 14-9 after the opening quarter, 29-22 at halftime and 44-38 through three quarters.

Camden Thompson led the Vikings with 23 points.

The Spartans were paced by Jayden Perrone with 18 points and nine rebounds, while Will Chye added 13 points and six rebounds. Jack VanderHaag chipped in with eight points.

O-K GREEN CONFERENCE

GRAND RAPIDS UNION 68, REETHS PUFFER 54- The Rockets fell in an OK-Green Conference game on Friday night.

Union led 18-11 after the first quarter, 34-18 at halftime and 46-38 heading into the fourth quarter.

Jaxson Whitaker paced the Rockets with 19 points and five assists while Logan Brooks scored 13.

Reeths Puffer moves to 12-7 overall, and 9-5 in the OK-Green Conference play.

WYOMING 71, MONA SHORES 60- The Sailors came out fighting but fell short in an O-K Green Conference game on Friday.

Mona Shores trailed 13-9 after the opening quarter and 27-24 at halftime. Wyoming increased its advantage to 52-40 heading into the fourh.

The Sailors were led by Parker Swartz with 20 points and seven rebounds while Keontae Richards added 10 points.

Mona Shores finished the regular season with a 9-11 overall record and was 6-8 in O-K Green Conference play.

HOLTON 56, HESPERIA 28- The Red Devils came out strong on Friday night with C.S.A.A silver division win.

Holton led big early, jumping out to a 24-3 lead after one and had a 34-9 advantage at half.  The Red Devils extended their lead to 48-18 after three quarters.

Wyatt Monette led the Red Devils with 22 points while Bret Hosmer added 11.

The Panthers were paced by Ian Fox with 10 points and Ethan O’Neal had seven.

The Red Devils are now 13-5 on the season and 8-2 in league play, while Hesperia falls to 1-16 overall and 0-10 in conference action.

REED CITY 71, FREMONT 41 – The Packers were physically outplayed on the Friday night in a late season loss.

MICHIGAN D LEAGUE

MASON COUNTY EASTERN 60, PENTWATER 50 – The Falcons were led by Jonny Arnouts with 21 points, while Tyler Plummer added 13 points and six steals.

Will Werkema Grondsma added 12 points and five steals for Pentwater and Brandon Macher pulled down 10 rebounds.

The Falcons trailed 15-11 after the first quarter, 27-14 at halftime and 40-35 through three quarters.

Pentwater is now 6-10 overall and 6-8 in league play.
