The Fruitport Calvary Christian boys basketball team rallied in the minutes to steal a 58-54 victory over Muskegon Catholic Central on Tuesday in non-conference boys basketball action.

Calvary led 19-18 after one quarter and 32-29 at halftime. MCC led 41-39 after three quarters, and had a 47-42 advantage with three minutes left.

Calvary used a pair of steals and buckets to tie the score. Point guard Jacob May then hit a 3-pointer and two free throws to nail down the victory.

Bradley Richards led the Eagles to the win with 25 points and 17 rebounds while May had 19 points, eight assists and five steals. Ethan Cammenga grabbed 10 rebounds while Luke Assaad had five steals.

Jaden Johnson had a great night for MCC with 22 points and nine rebounds.

Fruitport Calvary improved to 5-1 on the season while MCC is 1-4.

WEST MICHIGAN CONFERENCE

OAKRIDGE 54, MASON COUNTRY CENTRAL 46 – Garret Wever led the Eagles with 21 points and nine rebounds. Ethan Jozsa put up a double-double, scoring 13 points and 10 rebounds.

Oakridge led 20-6 after one quarter, 27-12 going into halftime, and 45-28 at the end of the third.

Will Chye led the Spartans with 19 points and seven rebounds, followed by Kolden Myer with 10 points and eight rebounds, and Jayden Perrone with 10 points.

The Eagles improved to 4-3 overall, with a 1-2 record in the West Michigan Conference. Mason County Central falls to 1-4 overall, with an 0-3 record in conference play.

NORTH MUSKEGON 56, RAVENNA 41 – Troy McManus led the Norse with 15 points and six rebounds, followed by James Young with 14 points and Brandon Rypstra with 10.

The first quarter ended with a 10-10 tie, and North Muskegon took a 23-21 lead going into halftime. The Norse closed the third quarter leading 40-32.

Clay Schullo and Travis May each put up 11 points for Ravenna, with Schullo totaling seven rebounds as well. Kyle Beebe added another nine points, along with eight rebounds and seven assists.

The North Muskegon boys are now 3-3 for the season, with a 2-2 record in the West Michigan Conference. The Bulldogs fell to 3-2 for the regular season and 2-1 in conference play.

NON-CONFERENCE

MONA SHORES 63, LOWELL 54 – Parker Swartz led the Sailors with 22 points and five rebounds, followed by Keontae Richards with 11 points and six assists and  Ethan Krueger with 11 points.

Mona Shores led 18-13 lead after the first quarter, 32-25 at halftime and 50-35 at the end of the third.

CJ Steinbach led the Red Arrows with 18 points, followed by Drew Veldman with 10 points and five rebounds.

The Sailors improved to 3-3 for the season, while Lowell fell to 0-5.

LUDINGTON 77, FREMONT 51 – David Shillinger led the Orioles with 19 points, followed by Peyton LaCombe with 17 points and Matthew Westhouse with 10.

Ludington led 18-14 lead after one quarter, 39-30 at halftime, and closed the third quarter with a 50-35 advantage.

Jordan McDonald scored 18 points to lead the Fremont boys.

The Orioles improved to 3-4 for the season. The Packers have an overall record of 2-4.

GRAND HAVEN 57, ST. JOSEPH 39 – Harrison Sorrelle led Grand Haven with 14 points, Bashir Neely added 13 and Nic Stump had 12.

The Buccanners led 29-17 at halftime.

Grand Haven, now 5-0, will open O-K Red conference play on Friday night at Hudsonville.

ALLENDALE 62, KENT CITY 38 – Kent City fell behind 20-6 in the first quarter and never recovered on a bad night.

Kyler Larson led the Eagles with nine points.
