Tuesday boys basketball: Hudsonville survives a double-overtime scare and beats Jenison in O-K Red

Aden Zank scored 26 points as the Hudsonville boys basketball team survived double overtime to pick up a 58-53 O-K Red conference victory over Jenison on Tuesday night.

The Eagles jumped out to a 15-10 lead after one quarter and led 30-21 at halftime.

The Wildcats were able to cut the deficit to 36-35 after three quarters, and the teams battled to a 48-48 tie at the end of regulation.

Each team scored three points in the first overtime while the Eagles outscored Jenison 7-2 during the second.

O-K GREEN CONFERENCE

MONA SHORES 56, HOLLAND 44 – Mona Shores jumped out to a 16-6 lead after one quarter and led 30-16 at halftime.

The Sailors carried the momentum through the break, extending the lead to 45-26 heading into the fourth quarter.

Keonte Richards paced the Sailors with 12 points and seven steals. Ethan Krueger chipped in with 11 points, while both Parker Swartz and Demetri Roberson recorded 10 points.

Mona Shores is now 6-6 overall and 3-3 in conference play.

O-K BLUE CONFERENCE

ALLENDALE 49, COOPERSVILLE 43 – Isaiah Currie led Coopersville with 16 points while Travis Rosel finished the contest with 15.

Coopersville is now 7-2 overall and 4-2 in conference play.

ALLIANCE LEAGUE

WEST MICHIGAN AVIATION ACADEMY 58, FRUITPORT CALVARY CHRISTIAN 52 – Bradley Richards’ double-double was not enough for the Eagles in an Alliance League contest.

Richards finished with 15 points and 13 rebounds. Nick Swanson recorded 14 points, while Raj Grewel grabbed 11 rebounds.

Fruitport Calvary is now 7-2 overall and 2-1 in conference play.

NON-CONFERENCE

MUSKEGON CATHOLIC CENTRAL 70, HESPERIA 33 – Jaden Johnson and Hunter Schrink each recorded a double-double to lead the Crusaders to a non-league win on Tuesday.

Johnson paced the Crusades with 16 points and 12 rebounds while Schrink finished the evening with 12 points and 11 rebounds, including 10 offensive rebounds.

Sam Kartes chipped in with 11 points for MCC.

The Crusaders led 16-5 after one quarter and 37-10 at halftime. MCC extended the lead to 60-25 at the start of the fourth quarter.

The Crusaders are now 2-7 overall.

KENT CITY 72, NEWAYGO 46 – Kent City jumped out to an 18-5 lead after one quarter and led 36-14 at halftime.

The Eagles maintained the lead in the third, taking a 53-36 advantage into the fourth quarter.

Kyler Larson paced the Eagles with 25 points while Hayden Carlson finished the evening with 19 and Seth Vanderwest scored 10.

The Eagles are now 7-3 overall and 4-0 in CSAA Silver conference play.

CADILLAC 52, LUDINGTON 30 – Ludington trailed 18-12 after one quarter and 30-14 at halftime.

The Orioles were unable to cut into their deficit in the third quarter, trailing 38-22 at the start of the fourth.

Peyton LaCombe led the Orioles with 18 points while David Shillinger finished the game with nine.

POTTERS HOUSE 58, ORCHARD VIEW 57 – Potters House got a loose ball and scored the winning layup with four seconds remaining. OV’s Darius Williams got off a final shot, but it missed the mark as time expired.

Willaims paced the Cardinals with 27 points, six rebounds, and six assists. Delaney Oakes chipped in with 15 points, while Kieth McAlister finished the contest with seven points.

Orchard View fell to 3-6 overall this season.

GRAND RAPIDS COVENANT CHRISTIAN 69, OAKRIDGE 47 – The Eagles fell behind 12-6 after one quarter and trailed 35-16 at halftime. TheY cut into the lead in the third quarter, trailing 49-33 at the start of the fourth quarter.

Ethan Jozsa paced the Eagles with 22 points while Hunter DeLora finished with 12 points.

MONDAY GAMES

SHELBY 43, MASON COUNTY CENTRAL 24 – The Tigers claimed the West Michigan Conference win by outscoring the Spartans 15-5 in the fourth quarter.

Joe Hayes had 21 points and seven rebounds for Shelby while Mason Garciz added 11 points and six rebounds.

Will Chye led the Spartans with 12 points and nine rebounds. Jayden Perrone added eight points and four rebounds.

MUSKEGON HEIGHTS 48, NORTH MUSKEGON 43 – The Tigers led by three after one quarter, trailed at halftime by four, then led after three quarters by two points.

Muskegon Heights closed out the win by outscoring the Norse 16-13 in the fourth quarter.

Ja’Kari Edwards made a steal, was fouled and hit two free throws and William Davis added another free throw to ice down the win in the end.

Edwards finished with 18 points and Davis added 16 for Muskegon Heights.

Troy McManus paced the Norse with 13 points, Sam Gallo added 10 and Ben Meyers contributed six points, three steals and three assists.
