In a game that could not have gotten any tighter, Shelby was able to down Whitehall 55-54 on Friday night in West Michigan Conference action.
Shelby started out front, leading 8-6 at the end of one, and 21-14 at half.
Whitehall began their comeback in the third, making the score 37-34 by the start of the fourth. As the game came to a close, Shelby was able to barely hold on- finishing 55-54 in a thriller.
Joseph Hayes led Shelby with 20 points while Bishop Lee had 10,
The Vikings were led by Jack Houtteman, who scored 13 points while Camden Thompson managed 10 points, as well as eight rebounds and three blocks.
Shelby improves to 5-3 overall and 4-2 in conference while Whitehall falls to 5-4 overall and 4-2 in conference.
Both continue their seasons next week Tuesday as Shelby travels to play Mason County Central, and Whitehall takes on Western Michigan Christian.
