Muskegon Risers men’s squad falls to defending champion Cleveland 10-5 on the road

The Muskegon Risers men’s soccer team were doubled up 10-5 on Saturday against defending champions Cleveland Crunch on the road.

The Risers 2-3 on the season, good for second place in the Great Lakes Division behind Cleveland, which improved to 2-0 on the young season.

The Crunch were paced offensively by Mike Derezic, who scored six of Cleveland’s 10 goals.

Adam Knight and Miguel Flores paced the Risers with two goals apiece while Ryan Zietlow had one tally.

The Risers trailed 4-1 after the first quarter, 7-1 after the second and 9-4 heading into the final stanza. Both teams added a goal in the fourth.

Muskegon will face the Chicago Mustangs on the road next Saturday.
