The Muskegon Lumberjacks offense has picked up over the last few weeks, resulting in a lot of success on the ice recently.
The Lumberjacks entered Friday night’s contest winning 12 of their last 15.
Muskegon continued its strong offensive outburst, scoring its season-high in goals in a 10-6 victory over the Madison Capitols at the Bob Suter Capitol Ice Arena in Wisconsin.
The Lumberjacks had balanced scoring throughout the night as 10 different players found the back of the net.
Muskegon is now 16-10-3 on the season, good for 35 points and third place in the USHL’s Eastern Conference.
The Lumberjacks will look to complete the sweep against Madison on Saturday in a rematch. Faceoff is slated for 8:00 p.m.
Muskegon led 3-1 after the opening period as the Lumberjacks scored three unanswered goals to erase an early 1-0 deficit.
Philip Tresca (3:21), Ben Strinden (9:10) and Jack Williams (19:03) each scored first period goals for Muskegon.
The Lumberjacks exploded for five second period goals while allowing four to take an 8-5 advantage heading into the final stanza.
Quinn Hutson (:21), Tyler Hotson (2:08), Joey Larson (10:33), David Hymovitch (12:14) and Jake Richard (16:41) each found the back of the net for Muskegon during the middle period.
The Lumberjacks added two more goals in the final period while tallies from Jake Braccini (8:53) and Noah Ellis (11:31).
Parker Lindauer and Hutson each chipped in with two assists, while Jacob Napier, Tresca, Larson, Jacob Guevin, Strinden, Williams, Hotson, Richard and Ellis had one.
The Lumberjacks outshot Madison by a 36-33 margin.
Platon Zadorozhnyy started in net for the Lumberjacks and stopped 13 of 18 shots. Cameron Korpi entered the game during the third period and allowed one goal on 15 shots.
