The North Muskegon girls basketball team used a strong fourth quarter to gain a 44-40 victory over Muskegon Heights on Monday in a non-conference game.
Muskegon Heights led 10-8 after one quarter and the game was tied 20-20 at halftime.
North Muskegon’s Molly Stewart opened the fourth quarter with a triple and Josee Cooke hit three layups in a row. The Norse built a nine-point lead then withstood a Tiger comeback down the stretch.
Cooke finished with 13 points and 10 rebounds, Stewart scored 11 points while Francine Vinson had five points and 10 rebounds for the Norse, who improved to 2-7 on the season.
MONTAGUE 48, FREMONT 38 – Montague led 13-11 after one quarter, 21-17 at halftime, and 35-27 at the end of the third.
Kendall Osborne led the Wildcats with 11 points, 11 rebounds, eight assists and three steals. Haylee Schwarz added 10 points and Emma Peterson scored eight points.
Haley Zerlaut paced Fremont with nine points, Kaitlynn Bennett added eight and Mia Witte contributed seven points and 10 rebounds.
LUDINGTON 40, MASON COUNTY CENTRAL 26 – Ludington took control in the first half, outscoring the Spartans 10-3 in the first quarter and 13-8 in the second.
Wren Nelson led Mason County Central with eight points and eight rebounds while Grace Weinert added five points.
