Grand Haven boys stay perfect, top Hudsonville 58-50 in conference opener

Grand Haven’s boys basketball team continued its perfect start to the season Friday with a road win over Hudsonville. The Bucs won a tightly-contested game 58-50 in the O-K Red Conference opener for both squads.

Grand Haven held a slim 15-13 after one quarter before extending the lead to 27-22 at halftime. The Bucs led 41-35 after the third quarter before closing the game out with a 17-15 edge in the fourth.

Bashir Neely led Grand Haven with 20 points on the night, followed by Nic Stump with 15. Aden Zank scored 20 to lead the Eagles, while Mason Dykstra scored 11. 

The Buccaneers are now 6-0 on the season and open O-K Red play at 1-0. Hudsonville falls to 2-4 on the season and 0-1 in conference play.
