The Hudsonville boys basketball team held off a determined Caledonia squad and captured a 64-56 victory on Tuesday in O-K Red conference action.
Hudsonville scored the first nine points of the game and led 20-4 after one quarter 33-20 at halftime. Caledonia rallied in the second half and pulled within two points with about three minutes to play, but Hudsonville nailed down the win with free throws.
Aden Zank led Hudsonville with 19 points, Mason Dykstra added 16 while Brayden Szamrie contributed 12 points and six assists.
O-K BLUE
COOPERSVILLE 54, SPRING LAKE 38 – Senior Travis Rosel led the Broncos with 18 points, 16 of which came in a dominant second half.
Also contributing for Coopersville were Isaiah Currie and Luke Sanford, who scored 14 and 11 points, respectively.
Porter Saunders led Spring Lake with 11 points.
Coopersville improved to 6-1 overall and 3-1 in conference play. Spring Lake dropped to 4-4 overall and 2-2 in the league.
NON-CONFERENCE
MASON COUNTY CENTRAL 87, HESPERIA 45 – Mason County Central hopped out to an early 23-14 and 52-27 by halftime.
Leading the Spartans was Will Chye, who dropped 22 points on the night. For the Panthers, Maddox Mosley posted 22 as well.
Mason County Central is now 3-5 on the season. Hesperia fell to 1-6.
KENT CITY 62, WELLSPRING PREP 45 – The Eagles led 25-24 at halftime, then took control with a 17-7 advantage in the third quarter and a 20-14 edge in the fourth.
Kyler Larson scored 32 points for Kent City while Hayden Carlson added 14.
The Eagles improved to 5-3 on the season.
