Jaden Johnson had a huge night on the basketball court, leading the Muskegon Catholic Central boys to a 60-55 victory over Orchard View in a good Lakes 8 matchup on Friday night.
Johnson, a senior center, scored a career-high 34 points and snagged 20 rebounds in the victory. He scored 25 of his points in the second half, which is a new MCC school record.
Johnson was 12-for-17 from the floor and 9-for-13 from the free-throw line.
Freshman Tramel Caviness hit three huge 3-point field goals for the Crusaders, Sam Kartes grabbed eight rebounds and Hunter Schrink totaled six points and six rebounds.
Delaney Oakes had a big night for Orchard View with 21 points. Darius Williams added 14 points, eight rebounds, seven assists and three steals while Kevin McAlister put up 11 points.
The Crusaders are now 1-3 for the season and 1-1 in Lakes 8 play. Orchard View falls to 1-2 overall, with a conference record of 0-2.
