Muskegon’s boys basketball team waited a bit longer to start its season than most teams, but it started on the right foot Tuesday night.
The Big Reds hosted Traverse City Central for their first game of the year and came away with a 59-35 win.
Muskegon pulled ahead 14-9 after the first quarter and led 23-15 at half time. The Big Reds extended the lead to 36-25 heading into the fourth quarter.
Anthony Sydnor III paced the Big Reds with 14 points. David Day III chipped in with 13 points, Maurice Sain Jr. scored nine and Jordan Briggs added eight for Muskegon.
With the win, the Big Reds start the year 1-0.
