The Kenowa Hills boys basketball team got off to a hot start on Friday then held on to beat Mona Shores 54-49 in a non-conference matchup.
The Knights jumped out to a 17-11 lead after one quarter and a 33-17 advantage at halftime.
Mona Shores fought back and cut its deficit to two points in the third quarter and trailed by seven, 39-32 headed into the fourth. Kenowa Hills hung on for the win in a very close fourth quarter, with Mona Shores having a 17-15 advantage.
Javion Otten led Kenowa Hills with a game-high 22 points. Preston Mull added nine points while Jake Bergsma pulled down 11 rebounds.
Parker Swartz and Keontae Richards scored 16 and 11 points, respectively, for Mona Shores.
