[1]RETURNING STARTERS
Maddox Mosley (6-4, junior, guard/forward) was a bit of a scorer last year and is expected to increase even more this season. He is a smooth and slender player who can move well without the ball. He’s also developed his shot very well and is good under the basket.
Armando Escobedo (5-11, junior, guard/forward) is a very quick slasher who’s sneaky quick at times. He’s developed his perimeter game and will be strongest at the defensive end of the court.
[2]KEY NEWCOMERS
Maverick McKinnon (6-2, junior, forward)
Gabe Gould (5-11, junior, guard)
Zach Glenn (6-1, junior, center)
Jared Tanner (6-1, freshman, guard)
Sam Gager (5-8, senior, guard)
TEAM STRENGHTS
Speed will be key as the Panthers will look to get up and down the floor quickly to score in transition. Communication and footwork on defense are also strong for Hesperia.
[3]TEAM CHALLENGES
Depth will be an issue for the Panthers as the number of players they have are limited and they’ll be tested in their depth due to speed of play.
CONFERENCE FAVORITES
Kent City is always towards the top of the conference and will likely be up there again this season, according to Coach Worcester.
[4]FIRST GAME
The Panthers open up at home on Dec. 7 against Walkerville.
COACH QUOTE
“Being over .500 going into districts would be a successful season. Our goal is to get as far as we can and reach regionals and even into state. That’s big talk for Hesperia, but those are our goals. These kid’s goals are in line with mine, and I feel we have a pretty good chance to make it happen.”
