Grand Haven girls basketball team downs Reeths-Puffer to move to 3-0 on the season

The Grand Haven girls basketball team continued a hot start to the season with a 41-31 win over Reeths-Puffer in non-conference action Friday night. 

The Buccaneers used a big second quarter to gain the edge and held the lead through the second half. 

Grand Haven led 6-5 after the first quarter, but outscored R-P 16-3 in the second to lead 22-8 at halftime. Reeths-Puffer got within 31-20 after three, but wasn’t able to come back in the fourth.

Molly Long paced the Bucs with 12 points and eight rebounds, while Alyssa Hatzel finished with nine points and Emersen Berndt had seven.

Sophia Hekkema and Brooklyn Tornes scored 11 each to lead the Rockets. Hekkema also grabbed 12 rebounds. 

Grand Haven is now 3-0 on the young season. The Rockets fall to 2-1 on the year.
