[1]RETURNING STARTERS
Bradley Richards (6-5, freshmen, guard/forward) was first team all-conference last year as an eighth-grader, and was also being named honorable mention All-State. He averaged 16 points and 11 rebounds a game but is still improving. He also led the team in three point shooting last season.
Jacob May (5-9, senior, guard) averaged 10 points and 5 assists per game last year. He may be one of the best ball-handlers in the area and spends a lot of time in the gym. He’s really turned himself into a player by being really quick with the dribble.
Ethan Cammenga (6-3, senior, center) averaged 6 points and 9 rebounds per game. Cammenga is a big, strong kid and is not afraid of contact. Last year he guarded the best post player on opposing teams.
[2]OTHER KEY RETURNEES
Luke Assaad (6-1, senior, guard/forward)
Quinn Swanson (5-8, freshman, guard)
KEY NEWCOMERS
Nick Swanson (6-1, senior, guard)
Josiah Jackson (6-0, senior, guard)
Raj Grewal (5-11, senior, guard)
[3]TEAM STRENGHTS
The Eagles are hopeful that rebounding and shot selection will be strengths this season. They also return a good amount of skill and experience to the starting lineup.
TEAM CHALLENGES
Fruitport Calvary will need to get stops this season on the defensive end, and are working hard on defensive concepts.
CONFERENCE FAVORITE
Tri Unity Christian will be the favorite after making a state championship game appearance last season, according to Coach Richards.
FIRST GAME
Fruitport Calvary will host Pentwater on Dec. 6 to open the season.
COACH QUOTE
“We’re going to try and win a conference championship along with a district championship and go from there. We’d like to be a lot better in March than we are now. We just take it one day at a time and try to improve. If we take care of the little things, the big things will take care of themselves.”
