Fruitport’s Gavin Reames

RETURNING STARTERS
Bode Anspach (5-10, junior, guard) averaged 9.5 points per game and was one of the leading scorers as a sophomore. Will be the best ball handler on the team and has an ability to score around the rim.

Gavin Reames (6-0, senior, guard) averaged 7 points per game last year and has been a really good leader.

Ryan Laus (6-3, senior, forward) averaged 7 points per game last year. He’s got a good transition game and is very fast up the floor while finishing nicely at the rim. Has also added a mid-range game.

Camden Farrell (6-0, senior, guard) has the potential to be the best rebounder on the team. He is a guy who is at his best when he’s around the rim and can use his athleticism.

OTHER KEY RETURNEES
Andrew Spyke (6-5, junior, forward)
Paschal Jolman (6-1, junior, guard)
Collin Jolman (6-2, junior, forward)
Ryan Mitchell (5-9, sophomore, guard)
Cade Powell (6-1, senior, forward)

KEY NEWCOMERS
Payton Flores (6-1, junior, forward)
Dillon McWilliams (5-9, junior, guard)
Andrew Fielstra (5-11, junior, forward)

ANTICIPATED TEAM STRENGHTS
The Trojans will have nine guys who got varsity experience last season. Even though they took their lumps, the returning Trojans learned a lot.

ANTICIPATED TEAM CHALLENGES
Will need to be scrappy due to a lack of size. After winning only once last season, the group needs to develop confidence while playing in a tough conference.

CONFERENCE FAVORITES
Hudsonville Unity Christian won it last year and returns several key players, according to Coach Erny.

FIRST GAME
Dec. 7 against Oakridge at home.

COACH QUOTE
“We’re trying to get back in that conference mix and compete. We have a lot of good teams and everyone is solid in the conference. We want to be in that mix, which is our goal.” – Steve Erny
