Montague’s girls basketball team opened the season with a hard-fought win over Comstock Park Tuesday night. The Wildcats used a strong fourth quarter to claim a 45-38 victory.
The team’s played evenly throughout, with the difference at the end of each of the first three quarters being just one point.
Comstock Park held a 12-11 advantage after one quarter, but Montague pulled ahead 22-21 at halftime. The Panthers regained the lead heading to the fourth, up 32-31.
However, the Wildcats managed to win the final quarter 14-6 to pull out the seven-point win to start the season.
Claire Meacham led Montague’s offense with a game-high 18 points. Kendall Osborne and Haylee Schwarz were also in double-digits with 11 and 10 points, respectively.
The Wildcats begin the season 1-0.
