After a big win over Montague last week, the Whitehall football team had a Week 9 letdown, falling to Reed City on the road 38-28 on Friday.

Whitehall opened the scoring on a 20-yard passing touchdown from Kyle Stratton to Nate Bolley to give the Vikings an early 7-0 lead.

Reed City responded with touchdown rushes of 44 and 22 yards and led 16-7 lead after the first quarter.

Whitehall had the only score of the second quarter on a 24-yard touchdown run by Stratton, and the Vikings trailed 16-14 at halftime.

The teams traded touchdowns in the third quarter. The Coyotes scored first, then Whitehall’s Alec Pruett scored from eight yards out, and Reed City led 24-21 headed into the fourth.

Reed City put up two more touchdowns in the final quarter. Whitehall got a 47-yard TD run from Pruett, but it wasn’t enough.

The Vikings were led on offense by Pruett with 153 yards and two touchdowns on 16 attempts. Stratton completed three passes for 59 yards and had one touchdown and one interception. Brodie Fogus had one reception for 40 yards.

On defense, the Vikings were led by Max Brown with eight solo tackles and six assisted. Jackson Cook added three solo and 10 assisted and Jaiden Altgilbers had two solo and 14 assisted tackles.

Whitehall, now 7-2 on the season, will find out on Sunday night who its first playoff opponent will be.
