The top-ranked Western Michigan Christian volleyball team finished with an uncharacteristic 2-2 record on Saturday at the Polish Classic Invitational at Bronson High School.

The Warriors defeated Lakeview in three sets, lost to Onsted in three sets, defeated Watervliet in two sets and lost on Bronson in three sets.

Kyla Wiersema led WMC in kills with 45 on the day. She also had 12 blocks. Kendal Young totaled 93 assists and Haley Breuker had 34 digs.

The Warriors are now 27-4 on the season and 3-0 in Lakes 8 Conference action. They will play Tuesday at Muskegon Heights and Saturday at Traverse City Central.

Norse have a good day in Shelby, posting a 4-1 record

The North Muskegon volleyball team posted a 4-1 record at Saturday’s Shelby Invitational, with its only loss coming in the finals.

The Norse downed Hart, Ludington, Pentwater and Holton in two sets, before falling to Shelby in the Gold bracket finals in two sets.

Natalie Pannucci had 41 kills for North Muskegon, Joslynne Bogner served eight aces and five blocks, Megan Houseman had 51 service points, Sami Baker totaled 54 assists, and Jaley Schultz had 23 digs.

North Muskegon is now 20-12-2 on the season and will play a conference match against Mason County Central on Tuesday.

Ludington goes 2-2 at Shelby tournament

The Ludington volleyball team posted a 2-2 record at the Shelby Invitational on Saturday.

The Orioles lost to North Muskegon in two sets, beat Pentwater in two sets, beat Hart in two sets and lost to Shelby in two sets.

Mia Pung led Ludington in aces with 12 and digs with 23.  Maddy Vaara led the way in kills with 19 while Karli Mesyar served up 37 assists. Jordyn Anderson led in blocks with 4.

The Orioles are now 15-17 on the season.
