Spring Lake is outscored 41-0 in second half, falls 48-24 to Grand Rapids Christian

The Spring Lake football was outscored 41-0 in the second half, falling 48-24 to Grand Rapids Christian on Friday night in a Division 4 district semifinal.

The Lakers led the game 24-0 with under three minutes left in the first half, but couldn’t hold on.

Christian Folkert gave the Lakers a 7-0 lead on a one-yard touchdown run with 6:46 left in the first quarter.

Folkert then punched in a second one-yard touchdown run to make it 14-0, which was the score after one quarter.

Jackson Core found Derrick Paggeot for a 36-yard touchdown pass in the second quarter to extend the Spring Lake lead to 21-0.

A Laker field goal by Carter Ball made the score 24-0. Grand Rapids Christian finished the first half scoring with a touchdown to make the halftime score 24-7.

Spring Lake was outscored 14-0 in the third quarter but still held a 24-21 lead after three quarters of play. In the fouth quarter, Grand Rapids Christian scored 27 unanswered points to pick up the victory.

Spring Lake finishes the season with a 6-4 overall record.
