Spring Lake held a late lead against Grand Rapids West Catholic on Friday, but fell 41-28 in an O-K Blue Conference clash.
The Lakers led 28-26 at the end of the third quarter, but West Catholic scored 15 unanswered points in the fourth quarter to pull out the win.
After a scoreless first quarter, Jackson Core found Andrew Von Wahlde for a 39-yard touchdown pass to take a 6-0 lead.
Core later punched in a one-yard touchown run to take a 14-0 lead with 5:05 remaining in the second quarter.
After West Catholic responded with a touchdown, Core found Joe Westhoff for a 46-yard touchdown pass to extend the Laker lead to 21-7.
Spring Lake held a 21-14 lead at halftime.
A 14-yard touchdown pass from Core to Carter Sabo gave Spring Lake a 28-14 lead with 8:26 left in the third quarter.
Spring Lake held a 28-26 lead after three quarters of play before being outscored 15-0 in the final quarter.
The Lakers are now 6-2 overall and 4-2 in O-K Blue Conference play. They’ll close out the regular season next week with a home game against Allendale.
