The Muskegon football team took down Reeths-Puffer 47-21 on Friday night to clinch an O-K Green Conference championship.
Destin Piggee scored on a 66-yard touchdown run in the first quarter to give the Big Reds a 7-0 lead.
In the second quarter, Ben Veihl of Reeths-Puffer punched in a three-yard run to tie the game at 7-7.
Myles Walton then found Jeremiah Dault on a 20-yard touchdown pass to put the Big Reds ahead 14-7. A 12-yard touchdown run by Jakob Price gave Muskegon a 21-7 halftime lead.
Brady Ross punched in a one-yard touchdown run to cut the Rocket deficit to 21-14 with 2:54 remaining in the third quarter.
Walton found Dault for an 80-yard touchdown to extend the Muskegon lead to 27-14 with 1:11 in the third quarter. Walton then punched in a four-yard run in the fourth quarter to make the score 34-14.
A fumble recovery and return touchdown by Ty Irby gave the Big Reds a 40-14 lead later in the quarter before Price scored on a 38-yard run to make the score 47-14.
The final Reeths-Puffer score came on a Ross run to make the final score 47-21.
The Big Reds are now 7-1 overall and 6-0 in conference play. They’ll close out the regular season by hosting Zeeland East.
Reeths-Puffer is now 3-5 overall and 2-4 in conference play and will travel to Grand Rapids Union to finish out the regular season.
