The Whitehall football team opened Division 4 district play by doubling up Sparta 40-20 on Friday night.
The game was tied 7-7 at the end of the first quarter before the Vikings went on a 20-6 second quarter run to take a 27-13 advantage at halftime.
Whitehall led 33-13 through three quarters before the teams exchanged touchdowns during the fourth stanza.
Sparta opened the scoring with a two-yard touchdown run.
The Vikings then responded with a 28-yard touchdown run by quarterback Kyle Stratton. Stratton put Whitehall ahead 14-7 on a 31-yard touchdown pass to Brodie Fogus early in the second quarter.
The Vikings extended the lead to 20-7 after Nate Bolley ran for a 38-yard touchdown with 6:49 left in the second quarter.
Sparta cut its deficit to 20-13 after scoring on a 12-yard touchdown run.
Alex Pruett added a three-yard touchdown run with nine seconds left in the second quarter.
The Vikings added to their lead with 1:02 left in the third quarter on a three-yard touchdown run by Stratton.
In the fourth quarter, Stratton found Bolley for a 32-yard touchdown pass before Sparta closed out the scoring with a 26-yard rushing touchdown.
Stratton led Whitehall both in passing and rushing, throwing for 117 yards on 7-for-11 passing while rushing for 177 yards on 21 carries. He was responsible for four total touchdowns.
Pruett added 103 yards rushing on 15 carries and one touchdown. Bolley had 69 yards and a score on the ground and caught two passes for 59 yards and a touchdown.
The Vikings were paced defensively by Max Brown with 6.5 tackles while Bolley added 5.5.
Whitehall will face Cadillac next weekend in a Division 4 district title match.
