The Fruitport football team improved to 2-3 overall and 1-3 in O-K Blue Conference play with a 37-21 victory over Hamilton.

Cody Nash provided a huge spark for the Trojans, scoring five times. Nash had three rushing scores, a receiving TD and a fumble recovery for a touchdown.

The Trojans jumped out to a 7-0 lead in the first quarter when Gavin Reames found Nash for a 42-yard touchdown pass.

A 30-yard fumble return touchdown by Nash made the score 14-0 at the end of the first quarter.

After Hamilton made the score 14-8, Nash punched in a 16-yard touchdown run to extend the Fruitport lead to 21-8.

Hamilton scored back-to-back touchdowns to tie the score at 21-21 as the teams went to halftime.

The two teams went scoreless in the third quarter to keep the score at 21-21.

The Trojans took the lead on a 27-yard field goal early in the fourth to make it 24-21. Nash closed out the fourth quarter with touchdown runs of 56 and 85 yards to give Fruitport a 37-21 win.

Nash finished with 186 rushing yards and three touchdowns on seven carries. Reames was 9-of-19 passing for 171 yards and one touchdown.

Fruitport will next play at Holland Christian.
